La Junta Growers is based near Ruidoso, New Mexico in the Hondo Valley. Our greenhouse sits on what was once an apple orchard, less than a mile from the Rio Hondo River. We believe that growing our veggies in the protection of the greenhouse provides the best experience for both the plants and the farmers (us)–safe from the weather, insects, and the harsh New Mexico sun. We use 100% solar-powered energy to run our watering and cooling systems. No pesticides or chemicals are used on our produce and the seeds we plant are non-GMO or from "heritage" crops. Unlike commercial greenhouse systems where produce is grown hydroponically, we provide our plants with a soil-base.
La Junta Growers' first official season began in 2016 with our tomatoes. Since then, we've appeared in local groceries, restaurants, and farmer's markets, and now the Downtown Grower's Market in Albuquerque. For our 3rd season, we are selling (2) types of tomatoes, a small cucumber variety, bell-peppers, and strawberries.
